We’ve always believed in supporting our communities. Many of our local community donations are lumber for different worthwhile causes. For example, Vanderwell has supplied, and continues to supply, the lumber for the industrial education classes at Roland Michener Secondary School in Slave Lake as well as many other schools in the local area.

In the mid-90s, Vanderwell provided major funding for a seniors living facility in Slave Lake and in 1996, Vanderwell Heritage Place opened. Today, this seniors supportive living site continues to meet the needs of our community.
The Allaire Walking Trails are a well used feature in the Town of Slave Lake and all the way out to Devonshire beach. They opened in the mid 1990’s, and are part of the Trans-Canada Trail System. Vanderwell is proud to have been a major donor of crushed gravel for the pathways of the Allaire Trails.
In 2023 and continuing in 2024, Vanderwell has donated lumber to a number of organizations; various church building programs in Alberta and Saskatchewan; fire hall projects; and Gilwood Golf & Country Club, to name a few. We are pleased to be a part of these organizations success.

We’re excited to be a supporter of the annual Slave Lake Native Friendship Centre’s “Santa’s Anonymous” program. Thank-you to all our employees that donate toys to Santa’s Anonymous. We also donate to Christmas Hampers for Elders, and other community hamper, toy and wellness programs.
We also support the Slave Lake Color Fun Run, sponsored by the Rotary Club for Legacy Daycare.
And once again, we are the major fireworks sponsor at Slave Lake’s “All-in-Summer” celebration at the end of August.
As well as donations to our communities where we work and live, the Vanderwell family has established a foundation that supports worthwhile initiatives in Canada and elsewhere in the world. For more information, email us at foundation@vanderwell.com.
