February Is a Perfect Time to Connect with Family and Friends

You might say that in the Slave Lake region, not only do we have Family Day on February 20 this year, but we also have Family (and Friend) Month.

February may be the second-coldest month of the winter in the Slave Lake area (you guessed it, January holds top spot,) but it is also the month when we have a lot of fun activities. The Town of Slave Lake’s Frost Fest 2023 goes until Monday, February 20th and features a multitude of activities. Check out everything that’s going on below and by clicking this link!

On Family Day, February 20, you can enjoy some time outdoors at Frolic In The Park at Schurter Park from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Then up to the end of February there is a Winter Story Walk, Shrove Tuesday Pancake dinner, fishing tournaments, curling events for all ages, movie nights and free public skating.

The research is pretty definite that getting together with family and friends can make us happier. Our social connections, whether with family, friends or acquaintances, can help lower anxiety, depression, increase self-esteem and even improve our physical health.

In Slave Lake and area, there are lots of activities in February and throughout winter to meet people and be involved.

And at Vanderwell, let’s give a Shout Out for the colder temperatures and snow to stay a bit longer. We’re still working hard to get our final logging done before the weather changes and the log haul roads become muddy and difficult for our trucks to travel on.

In the meantime, let’s enjoy February!
